Gavin's Mittens

November 9, 2018

Student Council will continue a very special service project this year called Gavin’s Memory Mittens. You may remember this service project from the last few years.  Please help us decorate Gavin’s tree in the high school lobby with donations of NEW mittens, hats, gloves, warm socks, and scarves.  All items will then be donated to children of the Steel Valley community who need them for the upcoming winter season. This operation is in honor and memory of Baby Gavin Thomas who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on 12/28/2007 at almost 3 months of age.  Gavin is  “forever in our hearts.” If you work in a building other than the high school or middle school and would like to donate some items for Gavin’s Tree, please send them to Beth McCallister via interschool mail. We will be sure to get them placed on the tree.

The football playoff game this week will be on Friday, November 9 at 7:30 at Elizabeth Forward.    Pre-sale student tickets will be $5.00 and adult tickets will be $7.00.   Tickets will be on sale in the Athletic Office now until Friday at noon and ALL tickets at the game will be $7.00.

Steel Valley School District Climbs Ranks in List of “Best Pittsburgh Area Schools!”

Recent News

The Steel Valley School District Board of Directors will hold a special meeting at 7:30 p.m. on December 12, 2018, in the Senior High School Library for the purpose of ratifying a collective bargaining agreement. The school district reserves the right to conduct other business that may be brought before them.

It has come to our attention that people have purchased school spirit items on Facebook ads and have been scammed through non-district sponsored sites.  They are selling championship tee-shirts and other miscellaneous items. Please DO NOT put yourself in a situation like this. Know who you are buying from!

Letter to Parents

November 26, 2018

With great sadness I must inform you that on Sunday, November 25, 2018, we learned that one of our High School Staff members, Mr. Randy Zirkle, had passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. Mr. Zirkle was a technology teacher at the High School, and he was extremely committed to his students. He will be missed.  Please select the header to read the attached letter from our Superintendent, Ed Wehrer.
