Stand Together, Steel Valley Wellness co-host second Circle Talk session

Students participate in the second Circle Talk session

The second of three Circle Talks sessions took place on Tuesday, February 7 for middle school students. The sessions are co-hosted by the Steel Valley Stand Together team and Steel Valley Wellness co-owner and licensed professional counselor, Katie Whitney.

Circle Talks evolved out of a collaborative effort to introduce students to the basics of mental health and coping mechanisms.

During the second session, students had the opportunity to share, learn and relax amongst their peers in a safe environment. The topic was the power of music and how it affects mental health. Many students are now looking forward to the last session.

At the end of the session, all of the students were able to identify their perception of how music affects mental health, and learn how different genres and beats can address basic coping skills for stress management. They also left the session with a positive self affirmation.

Any Steel Valley student in grades 5-8 is welcome to join the final Circle Talk session on March 7. Congratulations to Landon Hurd who was the lucky gift card winner today!
