Middle School students duck, dodge their way to victory in March Madness Dodgeball Tournament

Middle school students participate in a dodgeball tournament as a reward for good behavior and appropriate conduct

College basketball's greatest spectacle wasn't the only tournament going on this past week. The Middle School had its own March Madness, with 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders competing in 34 dodgeball games last Thursday.

By the time the dust settled and the final rubber ball had come to a stop, two winning teams were left standing. Mini Twix, a team of sixth graders, won the 5th and 6th grade tournament, while CTB, a team of eighth graders, won the 7th and 8th grade tournament. The two winning teams had one last showdown as they faced a team of teachers for the ultimate victory. The students came out on top to add some additional bragging rights to their claim to the dodgeball throne.

The winning teams will receive a Chick-Fil-A luncheon as part of their reward.

The March Madness Dodgeball Tournament was sponsored and organized by the Middle School PBIS team. The PBIS program emphasizes and supports positive behavior and appropriate conduct by students. Those students in good standing who were not participants in the tournament were allowed to observe the tournament with their class during specific periods.

High school students also provided help for the tournament, as a dozen high school students volunteered to serve as referees for the games.
