Caring Closet is in need

The Caring Closet is in need of items if you are interested in giving this holiday season. You can mail any donation in c/o Nurse Thomas; Steel Valley High School; 3114 Main Street; Munhall, PA 15120 OR you can drop your donations off to Nurse Thomas during school hours 8am-2:50 pm Monday-Friday.

The Steel Valley School District has selected the Pennsylvania School Boards Association to conduct the search for the district’s next superintendent. The search began on Monday, November 6, with applications being accepted through January 2. The selected candidate will be appointed in Spring 2024. Interested candidates should visit edcareergateway.com for additional information and to apply.

Steel Valley students who are taking part in the CNX Mentorship Academy met with leaders of the group to talk in-depth about the different pathways available to them that lead to successful careers. The CNX Mentorship Academy exposes the students to a wide range of career possibilities that don't require a college degree.

Did you know that Steel Valley has partnered with the University of Pittsburgh in order to offer College in High School courses? Students are able to earn college credit while preparing themselves for a college workload.

Donated items from Barrett's 12 Days of Giving

Over 12 days in November, Barrett Elementary will be looking at various ways we can make a difference through giving. Each day, we will be highlighting a new way to give back. While we do have a day to celebrate each, donations for all days can be made any time from November 2nd through November 22nd.

INFORMATIONAL MEETING FOR SV PARENTS

Join us for an informational meeting to talk about safety and security features in the Steel Valley School District, as well as important information that parents and guardians should know about drug abuse, vaping, and more. Information about the D.A.R.E. curriculum will be included.

The Board is accepting letters of interest from district residents who would like to serve on the School Board.  There is currently a vacancy on the Board.  Letters of interest must be received by 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023.  The Board will interview the candidates at the work session meeting the evening of October 23, 2023 at 7:30 p.m.

Spirit Week and Homecoming is all about showcasing Ironmen Pride. Steel Valley students did just that during the fall sports pep rally and during the homecoming game on October 13.

Park students faced off against the high schoolers in a couple of activities. The kids from Park must've had a good breakfast, because they beat the high school students at every game, whether it was a round of mini golf, a sack race, a push-up challenge, and even a tug-of-war contest.

Barrett students listened to the high school students talk about the importance of leadership, kindness, and teamwork, met this year's homecoming court, chanted with the cheerleaders, and listened to the Steel Valley Marching Band.

Over 100 educators from the Steel Valley School District recently took part in the Consortium for Public Education's shared professional development day at Woodland Hills High School.

Middle school and high school students teamed up to collaborate on some science experiments recently. The high school students served as mentors to the middle school students, all as part of a quest to foster a love for science at Steel Valley.

In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, there’s been a universal increased need for social-emotional learning attention in school. The Project SEEKS SES grant will help Steel Valley address that challenge by purchasing curriculum through Satchel Pulse.

The Steel Valley Marching Band in action

A year after reintroducing seventh and eighth graders to its ranks, the Steel Valley Marching Band has continued to grow and improve through a summer marked by transition.

Visitors will soon be seeing a new addition to the entrances to each of our schools, as we are posting a welcome sign in multiple languages to reflect the wide range of languages our students and families speak.
