Da'Ron signs with his family

Da'Ron Barksdale is officially set to become a Pitt Panther. The Steel Valley High School senior formally signed his scholarship papers to continue his academic and athletic career at the University of Pittsburgh next fall. Barksdale was joined by his family, friends, teammates, coaches, and friends for a special Signing Day Ceremony on Wednesday, December 3 in the high school auditorium.

Today, Student Council members teamed up with students from Mrs. Lavelle’s and Mr. Shoemaker’s classes during lunch periods to promote kindness across our school community. Congratulations to Da’Ron Barksdale who has been selected as a Mr. PA Football Player of the Week nominee. Barksdale ran for 240 yards and scored four touchdowns in a 49-0 shutout victory over Ligonier Valley on October 17th.

From bouts of tug-of-war to relay races, dance-offs to cheer chants, Ironmen Pride was on fully display all week long leading up to Steel Valley's 2025 Homecoming Celebration on Friday, September 26.

The senior girls raced out to an early lead and defeated the junior girls 40-14 in the annual Homecoming Powder Puff game at Campbell Field.

Students raise awareness on Suicide Prevention Awareness Day

Wednesday, September 10 was Suicide Prevention Awareness Day. To recognize this important day, the Steel Valley High School Student Council hosted an informational table during lunch periods. Junior student Hannah Lesser took a leading role in planning and organizing the event and Kamyah Davis, Elaina Fedoris, Claire Peterson, Ashley Bulger, Demaya Clark, Loghan Muha, and Amber Fey helped manage the table.
