National Honor Society Ceremony

Steel Valley High School’s Apollo Chapter of the National Honor Society held its 48th annual induction ceremony on May 10th.  The National Honor Society is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students.  More than just honor roll, NHS serves to honor students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. The formal ceremony, which includes a special candle lighting by its members, was held at 1:30 p.m. and thirty-six new members were inducted this year.

During the ceremony, a special student and teacher are recognized for their outstanding accomplishments.  This year’s recipients are Isabella Furrick and Timothy Vickers.

The members of the National Honor Society participate in a peer-tutoring program in the high school and help other organizations with their time and talents.
