A contingent from Steel Valley's SADD program recently participated in the 2022 Students Against Destructive Decisions National Conference at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Seniors Brenna Kern and Chelsea Bulger teamed up with recent graduates Ben Novotny and Veronica Brocato and advisor Austin Riley for the trip.

Over 42 states were represented at the conference, where students learned how to empower other teens, engage with adult allies, mobilize their communities, and change lives. The Steel Valley SADD program played a large role in the conference. The students participated in the Mobilization Station, a student exhibit hall showcasing projects from the 2021-22 school year, where they won the National Gold Tier for their presentation.

Ben Novotny, the Class of 2022 valedictorian, hosted his own panel at the conference. Students from various other SADD programs from around the country joined him for a conversation focused on student leadership engagement in their own schools and communities.

The Steel Valley SADD students also had the opportunity to enjoy the different theme parks throughout Walt Disney World. They will take all that they learned from the experience and share it with their fellow SADD members, their high school classmates, and the community.
