The High School Student Council would like to thank everyone who donated to their collection for Beverly’s Birthdays. Beverly’s Birthdays is an organization that provides birthday cheer for children experiencing homelessness and families in need. Their Beverly’s Babies division provides critical baby care items and life sustaining resources for expecting parents and new babies.

Steel Valley High School seniors who are interested in pursuing a career in the medical field had the opportunity to view an open heart surgery at Allegheny General Hospital on February 8. Students Chelsea Bulger, Jennifer Nguyen, Myrian Perez-Paulino, and Madison Blasko witnessed the 4-hour open heart surgery from the observation deck above the operating room. While peering down through the glass window, they were able to watch the surgeon, nurse, surgical tech, anesthesiologist, perfusionist, and other surgical team members of AGH perform a Redo Sternotomy, a Redo Aortic Root Replacement, and an Aortic Valve Replacement.
Jordan Corcoran, the founder of the mental health organization Listen, Lucy, visited Steel Valley on Wednesday, January 25 to speak with middle school and high school students about erasing stigmas around mental health and the importance of caring about their own mental health.
The Caring Closet mission is to serve students who are financially struggling and in need of a little extra help with obtaining daily necessities; those students who are striving to do well academically, but need an extra boost to ensure their focus can be on their education and not on meeting their basic needs. If you have donations of school supplies, hygiene products, or "like new" or "gently used" school uniform clothing appropriate for middle school or high school aged students, please contact us. As a collaboration between UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh and Morgantown, Inc., the Care Mobile offers no out-of-pocket cost medical care to children throughout Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas. The Care Mobile will be at Barrett Elementary - Jan. 23 & March 27 and Steel Valley High School - Feb. 27 & April 24
Casey Walker’s experience as a student growing up in the Baldwin School District helped shape her career and impacted her journey to Steel Valley. She joined Steel Valley this school year as a district-wide counselor, with a focus on the middle school and high school. She shared more about her background and detailed some of the programs and initiatives she is implementing for students.
Cruce Brookins and Greg Smith are off to play Division I college football. The duo signed their National Letters of Intent to play college football at the University of Pittsburgh and Miami (Ohio) University, respectively.
Tuesday night was the annual Holiday Instrumental Concert, featuring the 5th-6th grade concert band and 7th-12th grade concert band under the direction of Mr. Michael Sisley. Mr. Sisley noted that this was the first time this particular selection of music had been performed at Steel Valley, which added to the excitement for the musicians.
The High School Student Council hosted a Holiday Door Decorating Contest to help everyone get into the holiday spirit. The doors looked festive and fantastic!
It was a packed house inside the Steel Valley High School auditorioum as the Middle School Chorus and High School Concert Choir performed their annual holiday show under the direction of Ms. Sharon Kampe.
Two more Steel Valley student-athletes have made their commitments to pursue their sports in college. Kendall McConnell and Nolan Hurd each announced earlier this week their decision to play at Saint Vincent College next year.
Winter High School Student Sports Pass $5.00 per pass. Student passes are for High School students ONLY. Pass will get you admission to all home winter sporting events. Pass must be presented at event for admission. Passes can only be purchased in the Athletic Office from Monday - Friday from 7:15 am – 2:45 pm.
Coaches, Parents, and Community Members, This correspondence is in reference to the rules and procedures that will be in effect for the PIAA Playoff game on Friday, December 2. The goal of the West Mifflin Area School District is to provide a safe and secure environment for all athletes, coaches, referees, and spectators at our facilities. There will be NO tickets sold at the stadium. All guest must purchase a ticket on-line through the PIAA website.
Steel Valley Football game information for Friday at West Mifflin High School--Gates will open at 6:00 p.m. Gates will close at 8:00 p.m. (no one will be permitted into the stadium after 8:00 p.m.) We are not allowing any bags or purses into the stadium. Anyone without an online ticket purchase will not be permitted into the stadium.
Steel Valley Vocal Ensembles featuring the SVMS Chorus and the SVHS Concert Choir on December 13, 2022 at 7:00 PM in the SVHS Auditorium. The Admission is FREE!
Tuesday was a milestone moment for Chelsea Bulger and Roman Donis, as the two Steel Valley seniors signed their National Letters of Intent to pursue intercollegiate athletics opportunities.
The Barrett Elementary I2 Days of Giving project is back and going strong! Please join us as we continue to collect donations for causes in and around our Steel Valley Community. Donations can be dropped off at Barrett or the High School now through November 22nd!
The Steel Valley Student Council hosted an information table during lunch periods for Children's Grief Awareness Day on November 17. Students and staff were encouraged to place a butterfly in the Memory Garden that the Art Club did such a wonderful job creating.
The Steel Valley Senior Class of 2023 had the opportunity to go on a Senior Class Field Trip to Altitude Trampoline Park on November 16.
On November 14th, Steel Valley SADD students attended the PA SADD State Conference at the Seven Springs Resort. Steel Valley SADD seniors Breanne Francis and Brenna Kern worked with the State Leadership Council to help plan the conference and ran their own workshop.
Congratulations! Your District has a Nominee for the MaxPreps Pennsylvania High School. The MP AOW awards are decided by fan vote. Voting is live and will conclude at Noon on Monday, Nov. 21. You may vote as often as you like.
There will be a shuttle bus for the Steel Valley varsity football game on Friday night. The shuttle will pick up fans in front of the high school beginning at 5:30 pm and shuttle to Campbell Field through 7:30 pm and then return shuttle after the game. Parking at Campbell Field will be limited because of the expected rainfall. This is a WPIAL sponsored event and NO parent passes, student passes, senior citizen passes or conference passes will be accepted. Pre-sale tickets for the Steel Valley vs. McGuffey football playoff game can be purchased on GoFan.com. All tickets at the gate will be $7.00.
The Steel Valley Student Council is now accepting donations for their annual "Gavin's Memory Mittens" service project. The Student Council would like to decorate Gavin's tree in the Steel Valley High School lobby with donations of new mittens, gloves, hats and socks for kids and teens.
