Tuesday was a milestone moment for Chelsea Bulger and Roman Donis, as the two Steel Valley seniors signed their National Letters of Intent to pursue intercollegiate athletics opportunities.

Barrett Celebrates 12 Days of Giving

The Barrett Elementary I2 Days of Giving project is back and going strong! Please join us as we continue to collect donations for causes in and around our Steel Valley Community. Donations can be dropped off at Barrett or the High School now through November 22nd!

The Steel Valley Student Council hosted an information table during lunch periods for Children's Grief Awareness Day on November 17. Students and staff were encouraged to place a butterfly in the Memory Garden that the Art Club did such a wonderful job creating.

The Steel Valley Senior Class of 2023 had the opportunity to go on a Senior Class Field Trip to Altitude Trampoline Park on November 16.

On November 14th, Steel Valley SADD students attended the PA SADD State Conference at the Seven Springs Resort. Steel Valley SADD seniors Breanne Francis and Brenna Kern worked with the State Leadership Council to help plan the conference and ran their own workshop.

Steel Valley Football Playoff

Playoff Information

There will be a shuttle bus for the Steel Valley varsity football game on Friday night. The shuttle will pick up fans in front of the high school beginning at 5:30 pm and shuttle to Campbell Field through 7:30 pm and then return shuttle after the game. Parking at Campbell Field will be limited because of the expected rainfall. This is a WPIAL sponsored event and NO parent passes, student passes, senior citizen passes or conference passes will be accepted. Pre-sale tickets for the Steel Valley vs. McGuffey football playoff game can be purchased on GoFan.com. All tickets at the gate will be $7.00.

The Steel Valley Student Council is now accepting donations for their annual "Gavin's Memory Mittens" service project. The Student Council would like to decorate Gavin's tree in the Steel Valley High School lobby with donations of new mittens, gloves, hats and socks for kids and teens.

However, if you did not receive your glasses from last school year or have lost or broken your glasses, please contact Vision to Learn at (248) 716-4393 or fill out the form at www.visiontolearn.org/glasses to receive a new pair of glasses.

This year’s SV SADD officers are Brenna Kern and Chelsea Bulger as Co-Presidents, Breanne Francis as Vice President, Isabella Ruston as Secretary, Duane Carter as Public Relations, Ava Caiarelli as Student Ambassador, and Myrian Perez Paulino as Community Engagement Specialist.

The return of middle school students to the Steel Valley Marching Band has helped the band grow to 36 members and provided more opportunity to the students.

MS and HS Student Councils are joining The Caring Place in selling t-shirts for Children's Grief Awareness Day on November 17th. The cost of the t-shirt will be $10. A portion of the t-shirt sales is given back to the programs and supports of The Caring Place. We have added additional funds to the sale to give back to the Tears Foundation in honor of a staff member and her family who lost their son this past summer. This is another local organization that provides grief support services to families who have lost a child. We would like sales finalized by October 6th to assure on-time arrival. All services provided by the care mobile are provided at no out of pocket cost to you. Walk ins are welcome BUT NOT GUARANTEED because spaces are limited. We encourage you to contact your school nurse or to secure a time slot.

Caring Closet - 9/9/22

Currently, our Caring Closet is in need of the following items: *little packs of kleenex, *chapsticks/lip balm, *mens deodorant, *small bottles of lotion they can keep in backpack or bag, *random sizes of mens boxer briefs for emergencies, *plastic water bottles for students who simply cannot afford to buy one or own one of their own to keep in school and use the fountains. All donations are greatly appreciated and can be given directly to Nurse Thomas OR to Ryan Dunmire (Caring Closet Volunteers).

It’s been a whirlwind start for Steel Valley’s new Director of Pupil Services. Ms. Renee Kozusko started her new job shortly before the school year began and she has devoted these first few weeks to immersing herself in the ins and outs of her role. It’s been hectic, but it’s exactly where Ms. Kozusko wants to be.

If you are local and have no dinner plans for Tuesday, September 6th from 11 :00 am to 11 :00 pm, stop by Primanti's on the Waterfront. Mention SVMS Student Government, and a portion of your bill will be donated back to our organization. Thank you for your support in advance.
