Members of the High School Student Council teamed up with students from Mr. Shoemaker’s and Mrs. Lavelle’s classrooms to spend time together enjoying the beautiful weather outdoors. The group participated in a variety of activities, including cornhole, badminton, bocce, tossing a football, making bubbles, planting daisies, sidewalk chalk drawing, and more. Students and staff also enjoyed lemonade and were treated to ice cream sundaes and banana splits, generously provided through Common Grounds Café funds. A special thank you goes out to all of the Student Council members who took part, as well as to Mr. McCallister for scooping the ice cream.
When students come together in this way, they help create a community grounded in empathy, understanding, and shared growth. Collaborating and spending time side by side fosters authentic friendships, helps break down social barriers, and builds trust.
Experiences like these provide meaningful opportunities for all students to connect, celebrate one another, and feel a true sense of belonging and respect. They also help develop important life skills such as patience, communication, and teamwork, while contributing to a positive, supportive, and unified school environment.
“We are extremely proud of the hard work our Student Council done to help organize a number of service projects and fun events. This is one of the last events for this school year and it was a great time for all involved,” said Mrs. McCallister, Student Council sponsor.
