Kendall McConnell, Nolan Hurd commit to Saint Vincent College athletic programs

Two more Steel Valley student-athletes have made their commitments to pursue their sports in college.

Kendall McConnell and Nolan Hurd each announced earlier this week their decision to play at Saint Vincent College next year.

McConnell is a four-year starter for the Lady Ironmen softball team and will be a captain for the 2022-2023 squad. Over the past two years, Kendall led the team in hits, RBIs, and stolen bases. Being the ultimate team player, Kendall continues to hone her skills on the mound as the Ironmen starting pitcher, even though her primary position is centerfield. The team will continue to lean on her to lead a very young Ironmen squad this spring.

Kendall will continue her education at Saint Vincent College studying Elementary Education and playing outfield for the Bearcats. The softball team and everyone at Steel Valley looks forward to watching her continued success both in the classroom and on the softball diamond, and wishes her the best of luck.

Nolan is a two-year starter on the Ironmen Baseball team and he will be the anchor at first base for the upcoming 2022-2023 baseball season. Nolan is a strong defensive player who has the ability to play an outfield position if needed. Nolan will be one of the starting pitchers this year and the team will be looking forward to his leadership on the mound.

At the plate Nolan has composure and digs deep down when he has two strikes. Nolan was a leader of the team last year in RBIs and the team is looking forward to his clutch hitting this spring. Next fall, Nolan will be attending Saint Vincent and he will have the opportunity to take his game to the next level. The baseball team and everyone at Steel Valley wishes him the very best this year, and in the future, as he prepares himself to become a quality student athlete at Saint Vincent.
