Student voices shine during annual holiday show

It was a packed house inside the Steel Valley High School auditorioum as the Middle School Chorus and High School Concert Choir performed their annual holiday show under the direction of Ms. Sharon Kampe.

The night began with outstanding solo performances by high school students Kayla Bish, Savannah Cibula, Brenna Kern and Shatyra Parker.

The High School Concert Choir then performed its first selection of songs for the evening - "Adeste Fideles," "Do You Hear What I Hear?" and "Where Are You Christmas?"

The Middle School Chorus took the stage and sang six songs, all with a distinct holiday flavor! The featured songs were "I Feel Like Fa La La," "Somewhere In My Memory" from Home Alone, "Hot Chocolate" from The Polar Express, "The Grinch Medley" from How The Grinch Stole Christmas, "Holiday Road" from National Lampoon's Vacation, and a special rendition of "All I Want For Christmas Is You" by the eighth graders in the chorus.

Damon Floyd and Devier Scott performed solos during "The Grinch Medley," while Kylee Ganzy and Kierra Sanders had solos during "All I Want For Christmas Is You."

Following the Middle School Chorus' performance, the Concert Choir returned for "Once Upon a December" from Anastasia, "We Need A Little Christmas" from Mame, "Hallelujah," "White Winter Hymnal" and Christmas Valentine.

Maddy Blasko performed solo during "Once Upon A December." Wendoll Slade had a solo section during "We Need A Little Christmas." Deanna Bird and Ryan Packer had solo parts in "Hallelujah" and Brenna Kern had a solo part in "Christmas Valentine."

The night closed with all of the students from fifth grade through 12th singing "Christmas Rock Canon," a Steel Valley tradition.
