Park Elementary turned a little WILD on Tuesday with a visit from the Wild World of Animals!
This annual visit is always a huge hit with the students, as it brings the kids up close to live animals. It's a great way for them to learn about the differences between commonly mistaken species like turtles and tortoises or alligators and crocodiles, and it allows them to learn about how they can stay safe if they see animals out in the wild.
Today's visit featured amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals. The python had a few in the audience peaking through their fingers as their hands covered their eyes. Snakes can be scary, but they often just want to be left alone. The barred owl was a favorite - it even surprised everyone with its classic "who-cooks-for-you" call!
Among the mammals, the armadillo got a lot of laughs as it attacked a bunch of stuffed animals, while the lemur and the sloth were very cute!
