Pave Your Own Path

Mrs. Callahan read Aaron Slater, Illustrator, to her 3rd grade English Language Arts classes today.  The book was given to all staff through a partnership with the University of Pittsburgh that focuses on reading, relationships, and racial equity.  

 

The class talked about the theme of the story, which was to be your own genius and pave your own path. They also talked about how they could see the characters in the story as a mirror of themselves. Finally, students identified poetry elements in the story.
