As most of you know, each grade level will be partnering with a visiting artist from the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust this year, and another artist next year. These artists will be working with teachers and staff to integrate the arts into instruction to enhance what is being taught in class. Miss Hannah got things off to a great start yesterday. Students painted with watercolors to make nameplates and Miss Hanna used her puppet to talk with them about their feelings!
Artists will also be providing professional development to teachers and staff. Four artists will be coming in after the early-dismissal next Tuesday to work with us, and we can't wait!
Research shows that arts integration is one of the most effective ways to help students learn and retain information, so this is a fantastic opportunity!
