Park students bring some sunshine with "Music in the Valley" show

Park Elementary students brought some spring and summer vibes for "Music in the Valley," a showcase of each grade's musical talents that took place on Wednesday, May 17.

Under the direction of music teacher Ms. Kerry Melega, each grade had the opportunity to perform a selection of songs, all of which carried a happy, warm vibe to fit the end of the school year and the start of summer break.

The fourth grade beginning band opened the show with performances of "Hot Cross Buns," "Au Claire De La Lune," "Merrily We Roll Along," and "Farm Out." The band features brass and wood instruments - flute, clarinent, saxophone, trumpet and trombone - with some percussion.

Kindergarteners took the stage for "Spread a Little Sunshine," "Star Light, Star Bright," "I Don't Want to Leave on the Moon," and "Aiken Drum." First grade followed with "Listen to the Water," "Shake the Papaya Down," "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," and "Sunshine Day."

Second grade was next with "Side by Side," "Best Friends," and "Mac and Cheese," while third grade performed "The Rattlin' Bog," "This Old Man," and "Do-Re-Mi." The show wrapped with the fourth graders performing "The Banana Boat Song," "Pennsylvania Polka," and "Like an Eagle."

The spring concert is always one of the major final events of the year for Park Elementary.
