Gwen’s Girls remains committed to serving our community and families. We have heard and are responding to the frustration and outcry from parents/guardians who are in need of support to meet the new demands of providing home schooling for their children. For this reason, we are launching our Academic Support Initiative. The Academic Support Initiative (ASI) will provide supplemental tutoring sessions FREE OF CHARGE to registered families.

If you have questions go to SV Frequently Asked Questions and Resources in the Parents / Students page.

We now have registration forms on the Steel Valley website. You may download the forms to your device, complete them on your device, and email

Community Letter

March 30, 2020

We now are starting the third week of government-mandated closure of our schools. This drastic measure was taken because schools could become hotspots for COVID-19. In order for us to protect our community, and to warrant the closure of our schools, we have to take every precaution possible to contain the coronavirus.

Career and technical education classes will resume at Steel Center Tech via distance learning on Monday, March 30, 2020. Information regarding this is posted to our school homepage: www.steelcentertech.com.

We completed the first week of dealing with the closure of our schools and the curtailment of society as we have known it our entire lives. For as long as the COVID-19 crisis lasts, the District is here to support our students, families and community.

The decision late yesterday by Gov. Wolf to close all schools in Pennsylvania for the next two weeks has forced the District to change its plans. Instead of using FID days on Monday and Tuesday (3/16 and 3/17) for the creation of additional FID packets, the District now will be closed for teachers, aides and students for the full two weeks between Monday, March 16, and Friday, March 27. The planned half-day of school on Wednesday, March 18, will not occur.
