Letter from Superintendent to the Community

Letter from Superintendent to the Community

February 27, 2025

To our District Families:

As part of the Steel Valley School District's mission to continue to provide the safest possible environment for our students and staff, Steel Valley High School and Steel Valley Middle School administrators partnered with local law enforcement from Homestead, West Homestead, and Munhall to conduct a random search of the secondary campus on Thursday, February 27, 2025.

The Steel Valley School District has conducted similar random searches in the past. This procedure is a valuable tool to ensure our staff and scholars can enjoy a safe, productive environment in which to teach and learn. Law enforcement officers used trained K-9 units to help conduct the search.

District administration would like to express its gratitude to the law enforcement officers with the Homestead Police Department, the West Homestead Police Department, and the Munhall Police Depaitment for conducting the search, and for their collaboration with School Resource Officer Dan Boehme on this exercise.

The safety of our students and staff is always of utmost importance to our school community. District and building administrators will continue to collaborate with our school resource officers, our security team, and local law enforcement to provide the safest educational environment possible.

Sincerely, Bryan M. Macuga, Superintendent
