All throughout the year, Steel Valley Middle School students are encouraged to keep it REAL. By showcasing Respect, Effort, a positive Attitude and Leadership and submitting REAL cards through the middle school PBIS team, students can the opportunity to participate in unique events.

Recently, the PBIS team raffled off a number of great opportunities for students who submitted REAL cards throughout the year. A few middle school students and their families had the opportunity to attend The Hip Hop Nutcracker in Pittsburgh’s Cultural District at the Benedum Center on November 30. The classic ballet takes on a modern twist with new choreography and modern dance styles.

Thanks to Tickets for Kids, 43 middle school students attended Steel City Parkour as a field trip on December 6. It was a great opportunity to jump, dive, dodge and tumble around, and it was an amazing experience for the students to work with Ms. Nichole and her team.

Also thanks to Tickets for Kids, 20 students and their families attended the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium Holiday Zoo Lights show on December 1. Over 60 adults and 50 children benefited from the generosity of TFK. “It was a beautiful event,” said Katie Whitney, “ my family really enjoyed themselves.”

For all three events, students were chosen at random based on a REAL ticket raffle where students have submitted REAL cards throughout the year by showing Respect, Effort, positive Attitude and Leadership by our PBIS team. The middle school administration and PBIS team encourages all students to keep up their positive behavior, continue to turn in their REAL cards, print their first and last names on their cards and make sure that our PBIS team can read your name.
