Tuesday was a milestone moment for Chelsea Bulger and Roman Donis, as the two Steel Valley seniors signed their National Letters of Intent to pursue intercollegiate athletics opportunities.

Your Ironmen take on Beaver Falls for the WPIAL Class 2A championship on Friday, November 25 at 2 p.m. at Acrisure Stadium. Tickets are on sale now for $10. One ticket gets you access to all four WPIAL championship games at the stadium on Friday.

Barrett Celebrates 12 Days of Giving

The Barrett Elementary I2 Days of Giving project is back and going strong! Please join us as we continue to collect donations for causes in and around our Steel Valley Community. Donations can be dropped off at Barrett or the High School now through November 22nd!

The Steel Valley Student Council hosted an information table during lunch periods for Children's Grief Awareness Day on November 17. Students and staff were encouraged to place a butterfly in the Memory Garden that the Art Club did such a wonderful job creating.

Steel Valley hosted its monthly Community Meeting on Wednesday, November 16 at Park Elementary. This time, the Community Meeting also incorporated an Educational Leadership meeting.

The Steel Valley Senior Class of 2023 had the opportunity to go on a Senior Class Field Trip to Altitude Trampoline Park on November 16.

When his hearing loss support teacher told him that there was a Barrett student who also had hearing loss, Tim Eads decided to pitch in. A Steel Valley Cyber Academy student and volunteer firefighter, Tim used Barrett's fire prevention assembly to connect with Derrick Arrington and lend a hand.

On November 14th, Steel Valley SADD students attended the PA SADD State Conference at the Seven Springs Resort. Steel Valley SADD seniors Breanne Francis and Brenna Kern worked with the State Leadership Council to help plan the conference and ran their own workshop.

Veterans stand to be recognized as part of Steel Valley's 40th Annual Veterans Day Program

They are called to serve. Some never come home. To celebrate their duty, service and sacrifice, the Steel Valley School District hosted its 40th Annual Veterans Day Program on Friday, November 11, 2022 at the high school auditorium. Check out photos from the program as well as a list of students who were recognized for their contributions in recognizing area veterans.

Steel Valley Football Playoff

There will be a shuttle bus for the Steel Valley varsity football game on Friday night. The shuttle will pick up fans in front of the high school beginning at 5:30 pm and shuttle to Campbell Field through 7:30 pm and then return shuttle after the game. Parking at Campbell Field will be limited because of the expected rainfall. This is a WPIAL sponsored event and NO parent passes, student passes, senior citizen passes or conference passes will be accepted. Pre-sale tickets for the Steel Valley vs. McGuffey football playoff game can be purchased on GoFan.com. All tickets at the gate will be $7.00.

The Steel Valley Student Council is now accepting donations for their annual "Gavin's Memory Mittens" service project. The Student Council would like to decorate Gavin's tree in the Steel Valley High School lobby with donations of new mittens, gloves, hats and socks for kids and teens.

Thanks to the ongoing collaboration with The Pittsburgh Study, Steel Valley is continuing to expand and add programs and resources for students and families. During a recent professional development day, Dr. Liz Miller of The Pittsburgh Study, her team, and Steel Valley staff all provided updates on the progress these programs have been making and the plans for the future.

Ms. Caralee McGraw has taught middle school math, high school art, and elementary art. As Steel Valley's new elementary art teacher, her focus is on building their basic skills and techniques, introducing them to different materials and mediums, and boosting their confidence in the art world.

Every staff member in the Steel Valley School District recently took part in an active shooter simulation and security training with the help of local first responders. The training is designed to educate staff on safety protocols, walk them through potential scenarios, and help prepare them to make smart, safe decisions in an understandably terrifying situation.

Teachers have talked with their students about how to behave during dismissal.  Please ask your children to fill you in on what's expected of them when they leave school for the day.  They might share the following: We walk to our destinations. We follow directions the first time given. We have all of our belongings with us. We don't leave a mess behind. We use nice words. We keep our hands, feet, and belongings to ourselves.

Are you looking for something to do? The Middle School Drama Club will be performing their Fall Play called "Bad Auditions''. A comedy set during modern day where various people audition to be a part of the hit tv show Crime Court. The show runs Thursday, October 27th at 7 PM, Saturday October 29th at 7PM, and Sunday October 30th at 2PM in the High School Auditorium! Tickets are $2!

Friday was the Middle School's PBIS Fall Fest! As recognition for their positive behavior, the PBIS team put together an afternoon of activities for the students.

Fire Safety Day was great! The boys and girls loved hearing from the 22 fire fighters who stopped by, ten of whom attended Park Elementary School when they were little! Some of the pictures show students practicing how to Stop, Drop, Cover Your Face, and Roll.

This year’s SV SADD officers are Brenna Kern and Chelsea Bulger as Co-Presidents, Breanne Francis as Vice President, Isabella Ruston as Secretary, Duane Carter as Public Relations, Ava Caiarelli as Student Ambassador, and Myrian Perez Paulino as Community Engagement Specialist.
