Park Elementary students put everyone in a festive mood with a pair of holiday concerts on Wednesday, December 21. Each grade level performed for the parents, family members, friends and community members who packed the gymnasium for each show.

Tuesday night was the annual Holiday Instrumental Concert, featuring the 5th-6th grade concert band and 7th-12th grade concert band under the direction of Mr. Michael Sisley. Mr. Sisley noted that this was the first time this particular selection of music had been performed at Steel Valley, which added to the excitement for the musicians.

Michael Sullivan is no stranger to Steel Valley. The Munhall native went to Park Elementary and the former Woodlawn Middle School before graduating from Steel Valley High School in 1999. He remained in the area while running his own construction company and doing other work, but, eventually, his alma mater offered an opportunity he couldn’t pass up. The High School Student Council hosted a Holiday Door Decorating Contest to help everyone get into the holiday spirit. The doors looked festive and fantastic!

Barrett Elementary students put everyone in the holiday spirit with its special winter concert on Wednesday, December 14. Each grade level performed for the parents, family members, friends and community members who packed the gymnasium for the show.

It was a packed house inside the Steel Valley High School auditorioum as the Middle School Chorus and High School Concert Choir performed their annual holiday show under the direction of Ms. Sharon Kampe.

The Steel Valley School District is pleased to announce it will host the PMEA Jr. High District 1 East Honors Band Festival on Thursday, March 2, 2023, and Friday, March 3, 2023. The guest conductor will be Dr. Christopher Marra, Director of Instrumental Activities at Seton Hill University. A number of Steel Valley Middle School students will participate in the District Band.

Two more Steel Valley student-athletes have made their commitments to pursue their sports in college. Kendall McConnell and Nolan Hurd each announced earlier this week their decision to play at Saint Vincent College next year.

Prior to the pandemic, the Steel Valley School District had regular committee meetings to address the status of its A-TSI plans for the middle school and high school. The meetings have resumed following a pause during the pandemic. During the most recent gathering, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Coordinator Olando Dulin updated the committee members on the programs, resources, and tools the district is using as part of its A-TSI plan.

Recently, the Middle School PBIS team raffled off a number of great opportunities for students who submitted REAL cards throughout the year. A few middle school students and their families had the opportunity to attend The Hip Hop Nutcracker, see the Pittsburgh Zoo's Holiday Lights, and take a trip to Steel City Parkour.

Winter High School  Student Sports Pass

Winter High School Student Sports Pass $5.00 per pass. Student passes are for High School students ONLY. Pass will get you admission to all home winter sporting events. Pass must be presented at event for admission. Passes can only be purchased in the Athletic Office from Monday - Friday from 7:15 am – 2:45 pm.

The 10th Annual Food Basket of Love Giveaway will take place Friday, December 16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and again on Saturday, December 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Barrett Elementary. Organized by Homestead native Joe McCain through Homestead’s Park Place African Methodist Church, the annual donation drive provides area families with seven days worth of food.

Coaches, Parents, and Community Members, This correspondence is in reference to the rules and procedures that will be in effect for the PIAA Playoff game on Friday, December 2. The goal of the West Mifflin Area School District is to provide a safe and secure environment for all athletes, coaches, referees, and spectators at our facilities. There will be NO tickets sold at the stadium. All guest must purchase a ticket on-line through the PIAA website.

Steel Valley Football game information for Friday at West Mifflin High School--Gates will open at 6:00 p.m. Gates will close at 8:00 p.m. (no one will be permitted into the stadium after 8:00 p.m.) We are not allowing any bags or purses into the stadium. Anyone without an online ticket purchase will not be permitted into the stadium.

Tuesday was a milestone moment for Chelsea Bulger and Roman Donis, as the two Steel Valley seniors signed their National Letters of Intent to pursue intercollegiate athletics opportunities.

Your Ironmen take on Beaver Falls for the WPIAL Class 2A championship on Friday, November 25 at 2 p.m. at Acrisure Stadium. Tickets are on sale now for $10. One ticket gets you access to all four WPIAL championship games at the stadium on Friday.

Barrett Celebrates 12 Days of Giving

The Barrett Elementary I2 Days of Giving project is back and going strong! Please join us as we continue to collect donations for causes in and around our Steel Valley Community. Donations can be dropped off at Barrett or the High School now through November 22nd!

The Steel Valley Student Council hosted an information table during lunch periods for Children's Grief Awareness Day on November 17. Students and staff were encouraged to place a butterfly in the Memory Garden that the Art Club did such a wonderful job creating.

Steel Valley hosted its monthly Community Meeting on Wednesday, November 16 at Park Elementary. This time, the Community Meeting also incorporated an Educational Leadership meeting.

The Steel Valley Senior Class of 2023 had the opportunity to go on a Senior Class Field Trip to Altitude Trampoline Park on November 16.

When his hearing loss support teacher told him that there was a Barrett student who also had hearing loss, Tim Eads decided to pitch in. A Steel Valley Cyber Academy student and volunteer firefighter, Tim used Barrett's fire prevention assembly to connect with Derrick Arrington and lend a hand.

On November 14th, Steel Valley SADD students attended the PA SADD State Conference at the Seven Springs Resort. Steel Valley SADD seniors Breanne Francis and Brenna Kern worked with the State Leadership Council to help plan the conference and ran their own workshop.
