Please take a moment to read the following message from Steel Valley School District Superintendent Bryan M. Macuga that was sent to families on Friday, October 10, 2025.

Dear Steel Valley School District Families:

As part of the Steel Valley School District’s mission to continue to provide the safest possible educational environment for our students and staff, Steel Valley High School and Steel Valley Middle School administrators partnered with local law enforcement from the Homestead and Munhall Police Departments to conduct a random search of the secondary campus on Friday, October 10, 2025.

The Steel Valley School District has conducted similar random searches in the past. This procedure is a valuable tool to ensure that our staff and scholars can enjoy a safe, productive environment in which to teach and learn. Law enforcement officers used trained K-9 units to help conduct the search.

District administration would like to express its gratitude to our local law enforcement officers and K-9 units for conducting the search, and for their collaboration with Steel Valley School District on this exercise.

The safety of our students and staff is always of utmost importance to our community. District and building administrators will continue to collaborate with our school resource officers, our security team, and local law enforcement to provide the safest possible educational environment for our students, staff, and school community.

Sincerely,
Bryan M. Macuga
Superintendent
