Due to mechanical issues with the HVAC system on the secondary campus, Steel Valley High School and Middle School students will have an abbreviated schedule for Thursday, August 29 and will have remote learning for Friday, August 30. Dear Steel Valley School District Families:
Due to mechanical issues with our HVAC system, the Middle School and High School will be operating on an abbreviated schedule for Thursday, August 29. Middle School and High School students will also operate on a remote learning day on Friday, August 30.
Students will report to school at their normal time on Thursday and transition through a shortened schedule to collect assignments.
High School schedule for Thursday, August 29:
- Arrival - normal time
- 7:55 - 8:10 (1st period)
- 8:13 - 8:28 (2nd period)
- 8:31 - 8:46 (3rd period)
- 8:49 - 9:04 (4th period)
- 9:07 - 9:22 (5th period)
- 9:25 - 9:40 (6th period)
- 9:43 - 9:58 (7th period)
- 10:01 - 10:16 (8th period)
- 10:19 - 10:34 (9th period)
- 10:34 (dismissal)
Middle School schedule for Thursday, August 29:
- Arrival - normal time
- 8:23 - 8:28 (2nd period/homeroom)
- 8:31 - 8:46 (3rd period)
- 8:49 - 9:04 (4th period)
- 9:07 - 9:22 (5th period)
- 9:25 - 9:40 (6th period)
- 9:43 - 9:58 (7th period)
- 10:01 - 10:16 (8th period)
- 10:19 - 10:34 (9th period)
- 10:37 - 10:53 (10th period)

Students will be provided a grab-and-go lunch prior to leaving the building on Thursday. High School and Middle School students will use the remainder of the day on Thursday and all day on Friday to complete their assignments. Athletics and after-school activities will resume as normal on Thursday and Friday.
Vo-Tech students will attend school as scheduled. Vo-Tech students will be excused from Steel Valley assignments for Thursday and Friday.
Park and Barrett will operate as normal on Thursday and Friday.
The district appreciates everyone's patience and cooperation as we work to address the HVAC system as quickly as possible. We expect to resume a normal school schedule when returning to session on Tuesday, September 3 following the Labor Day holiday.
