Barrett students share message of love and friendship with spring concert

Barrett students perform during their spring concert

Whether it was appreciating the beauty of nature, the power of friendship, or the discovery of self, Barrett Elementary students shared a message of joy, love, and togetherness with their spring concert on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

This year's concert theme was titled "Spreading Joy With Music," and each piece of music performed by the students carried a positive or uplifting message that encouraged listeners to appreciate the wonderful things around them. Directed by elementary music teacher Ms. Kerry Melega, each grade level had songs that found the beauty in the natural world, expressed the importance of being yourself, or celebrated friendship and togetherness. The joyful message struck the perfect notes as summer begins and the school year comes to an end.

Kindergartners opened the show with "Spread a Little Sunshine," "Each of Us is a Flower," and "This Little Light of Mine." First graders sang "This Land is Your Land," "It's You I Like," and "Being Me."

Second graders performed "Love Is," "Tomorrow," and "Country Roads," while third graders sang "The Rattlin' Bog," "Joy!" and "The Bare Necessities."

Fourth graders concluded the show with "The Big Rock Candy Mountain," "It's a Small World," and "I Am But A Small Voice."
