Barrett students singing, dancing, and more during "Music In Our Schools Month"

Barrett Elementary students wave ribbons as they learn about musical rhythms.

“Music in Our Schools Month” is celebrated across the country every March. We have a lot of fun celebrating it at Barrett Elementary as well. Our morning announcements give us a, “Music Fun Fact of the Day.” The students learn fun music facts like what an “earworm” is or what instrument their teachers played in High School.

The students have been working hard on playing Orff instruments such as xylophones, metallophones, glockenspiels and their classroom percussion instruments as well. Dance and movement are also huge parts of music classes.

This month the students are learning how to do the Irish Jig! There is also singing, dancing, reading rhythms and playing instruments during music classes. Something exciting is always happening in the music room at Barrett Elementary!
