Barrett students bring some feel-good vibes with "Music in the Valley" show

It was an afternoon of feel-good vibes at Barrett Elementary on Thursday, May 25 as students performed their spring musical showcase "Music in the Valley."

Under the direction of music teacher Ms. Kerry Melega, each grade showed off their musical talents with a selection of songs, all of which carried the happy and warm vibes that come with the end of the school year and the start of summer break.

The fourth grade beginning band opened the concert with renditions of "Hot Cross Buns," "Au Claire De La Lune," "Merrily We Roll Along," and "Farm Out." The band featured students playing clarinets, saxophones and trumpets with some percussion.

Kindergarteners took the stage for "Spread a Little Sunshine," "Star Light, Star Bright," "I Don't Want to Leave on the Moon," and "Aiken Drum." First grade followed with "Listen to the Water," "Shake the Papaya Down," "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," and "Sunshine Day."

Second graders performed "Side by Side," "Best Friends," and "Mac and Cheese," while third grade sang "The Rattlin' Bog," "This Old Man," and "Do-Re-Mi." The show wrapped with the fourth graders performing "The Banana Boat Song," "Throw and Catch," and "Like an Eagle."

The spring concert is one of the last events of the year for Barrett Elementary.
