The Steel Valley Class of 2030 is now officially four years away from graduating from high school.

Eighth graders at Steel Valley Middle School celebrated their promotion to the high school ranks with a ceremony on Tuesday, May 19 in the auditorium.

Assistant Superintendent Dr. Brian Plichta welcomed the students and their families and congratulated them on reaching this milestone. He noted that high school will go by fast, and that the students have just 720 school days to make their mark. He encouraged them to get on the right path from the first day of their freshman year in the fall and to not wait until later in high school.

Dr. Bethany Fenyus also congratulated the students on their success. Dr. Fenyus relayed some of the common themes in the students' 8th Grade Essays, including favorite memories, remembering the teachers who made an impact, and some of the things they're looking forward to in high school. She then introduced the three essay winners — Alexis Anstiss, Addison Walters, and Gabriella Collins — who each shared some of the words they wrote, their own memories of middle school, and their outlook for the future.

Dr. Plichta then presented each student with their promotion certificate as Dr. Fenyus introduced them to the audience.

Congratulations to the Steel Valley Middle School Class of 2026 and the future Steel Valley High School Class of 2030!
