Multipurpose playground to be part of Steel Valley Elementary student experience

A render of a playground area

The learning at Steel Valley Elementary won't just take place in the classroom. Along with our flexible learning spaces, library and media center, gymnasium/auditorium, and outdoor learning spaces, the new school will also feature a playground for students to use.

Not only will this be something for students to enjoy during recess, but the structures in the playground will incorporate learning elements that teachers can use as an extension of their classroom lessons. The playground will also be accessible during gym class when the weather is appropriate.

The secure playground will be entirely fenced in to help keep our students and staff safe. It features two distinct play areas - a turf area with a variety of playground equipment, and an asphalt area that features two half-court basketball hoops and three foursquare game areas.

Playground construction was approved by the Steel Valley Board of Directors at the March 26 board meeting. We're excited to have this be a part of our new elementary school!
