Iceburgh surprises Barrett third graders with Pens tickets for being Reading Champions

Third grade with teachers and Iceburgh

Third grade had a very special guest on Wednesday, March 18, as they were surprised by a visit from Iceburgh!

The Penguins' mascot joined representatives from U.S. Steel and the Penguins Foundation to celebrate the amazing work done by Barrett third graders in the Reading Champions Program sponsored by both organizations.

This is the first year that the program has been at Barrett and the third graders have hit the books! The Reading Champions Program encourages classrooms to promote reading opportunities and helps supply students with engaging books to foster their love of reading.

In recognition of their hard work, the third graders were presented with some goodies, including a new book. And because they've done such a phenomenal job and spent so much time reading, they were awarded an extra special prize: Tickets to the Penguins game on March 24!

Congratulations to third grade on such an awesome job and thank you to the Penguins Foundation and U.S. Steel for supporting our students through the Reading Champions Program!
