Transition Night #2 Recap

Last night, we held our second Transition Night, with over 50 parents and staff members in attendance. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to a productive discussion.

As outlined on the agenda, the following topics were discussed:

1. Title I & Parent Engagement – We will continue hosting Title I evening events in the new building. The parent engagement survey was distributed, and we received a strong number of responses. Thank you for your feedback.

2. Class Size & Placement – We briefly reviewed projected class sizes, how homeroom placements are determined, and confirmed that gifted services will continue in the new building.

3. Grade-Level Alignment – We discussed the grade-level alignment document that Park and Barrett staff completed collaboratively and explained the purpose and importance of this work in ensuring consistency and a smooth transition for students.

4. Discipline Procedures – An overview of discipline expectations and processes in the new building was shared.

5. Administrative Roles – Cara and I introduced ourselves and reviewed our roles in the new building.

6. Mental Health Resources – We informed families about the mental health supports available to students and emphasized the importance of these services.

7. PTO Update – PTO representatives shared information regarding how elections will take place at the end of the 2026–2027 school year.

8. Follow-Up Questions – We addressed remaining questions from the first Transition Night, including:

* The number of recent retirements

* The number and types of specials offered

We appreciate the continued partnership and engagement from our families and staff as we move through this transition process together.
