As fall quickly draws to an end and winter approaches, February will be here before we know it — and this year’s Black History Month is extra special!
2026 marks the 100th anniversary of national Black History celebrations!
Over a century ago, Dr. Carter G. Woodson and a group of visionary educators founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History. Their goal was to make sure the stories, struggles, and achievements of Black Americans were taught, celebrated, and remembered.
What began as Negro History Week in 1925 has grown into Black History Month, celebrated across the nation and around the world. Thanks to their efforts, we now have a month dedicated to honoring the strength, creativity, and contributions of Black Americans who helped shape our country and continue to inspire generations. This February, let’s join together to honor 100 years of Black history, pride, and progress!
