Welcome back, Steel Valley faculty and staff!

Teachers reviewing material together

The final preparations are underway for a new school year!

Steel Valley faculty and staff have made their official return, as Tuesday marked the second of three days devoted to ensuring the 2025-26 school year starts off right. Superintendent Bryan Macuga and the Steel Valley administration welcomed everyone back on Monday with a presentation highlighting the accomplishments of the 2024-25 school year and outlining the goals for the upcoming year.

Tuesday and Wednesday are devoted to department meetings, important training sessions, professional development, and a final run through of programs, initiatives, and points of emphasis for the start of the school year. From a refresher on Sapphire to a review of the SMART Pass procedures for the middle school and high school to a check-in with all of the counselors and social workers, these days help lay the groundwork for a smooth start to the school year.

These days are also an important opportunity for teachers and staff to put the finishing touches on their classrooms for the year. One classroom in the high school got a bit more comfortable, as Mr. Deabner's planetarium received a seating upgrade! High school students will now be able to study the solar system and beyond in style. Check out the photo of the new set-up!

We can't wait to have kindergarten, fifth grade, and ninth grade students in on Friday, August 22 for Transition Day! And we're eager to welcome all students for the first day of school on Monday, August 25.
