Barrett Elementary recognizes third and fourth graders during Doris J. Hyde Merit Day Celebration

On May 20th, Barrett Elementary proudly celebrated the incredible achievements of our 3rd and 4th graders during the Doris J. Hyde Merit Day Celebration—an evening dedicated to showcasing their hard work and growth throughout the school year. This inspiring event was generously sponsored by The Best of the Batch Foundation.

Award Categories Included:

  • First in Math
  • Music & Physical Education
  • After School Enrichment
  • Thomas E. Barrett Award

Special Honors:

  • President’s Award for Educational Excellence was presented to Mason Tran and Ayelen Thompson for achieving straight A’s in 3 out of the 4 grading periods.
  • Kathy Marzec-Butler DAISY Award, honoring beloved teacher Mrs. Kathy Marzec-Butler, was awarded to Orlando Jones, Carter Perry, Jamie Edmunds, Antonio Ramey, and Khanye Scott-Tanner for earning honor roll and receiving no office referrals throughout their entire 4th grade year.
  • Dr. Carol McKenna Visual and Performing Arts Award was given to Shawn Harris in recognition of his outstanding creativity and talent in both visual and performing arts.
  • The Best of the Batch Award was presented by Mr. Charlie Batch to Orlando Jones for maintaining strong academic achievements, demonstrating a commitment to helping others, and actively participating in student and community activities.
  • Principal’s Award was presented by Principal Winters to Shawn Harris and Lover Parker for consistently demonstrating academic success and excellent behavior during their time at Barrett.
  • Doris J. Hyde Award was awarded to Jamie Edmunds for her exemplary progress in both conduct and academics over her four years at Barrett Elementary.
