Fourth graders connect, explore Middle School during Step Up Day

Fourth graders from Barrett and Park spent most of the day together on Friday for Step Up Day at the middle school.

With the end of the school year just a couple of weeks away, Step Up Day is another opportunity for Barrett and Park students to connect before they become a unified fifth grade class at the middle school next fall.

The students met Principal Stone and toured the middle school so they could start to get familiar with their future classrooms and hallways. They met a few teachers during the tour, too!

With the warm, sunny weather, it was a perfect day to do some activities and bond outside. Each activity required the students to communicate and use teamwork to succeed - from pushing a giant ball to relay races to lifting giant planks attached to their feet. They also had time to talk and share their experiences at Steel Valley so far, share what they'll miss about Barrett and Park, and express their excitement about what's to come in fifth grade.

Thanks to the staff and volunteers who helped put Step Up Day together and allow the students to connect!
