Steel Valley eyes opportunity to launch Girls Flag Football team

Steel Valley High School has an exciting opportunity to begin a new Girl's Flag Football team starting in the Spring of 2025! The season will run from approximately March 30th to May 18th. This will be a 7-on-7 non-contact format for grades 9-12, with a roster size between 7 and 25 players.

Some key points for schools joining:

• Equipment: Flag belts and footballs are provided by the Steelers Youth Football Fund.
• Exciting News: Flag Football has officially been added as a PIAA Sanctioned sport for the 2025-2026 school year.
• This program has shown strong growth over the years:
  • 2022: 6 schools participated (pilot year)
  • 2023: 17 schools participated
  • 2024: 36 schools are expected to participate.
