February 3, 2025
Dear Steel Valley School District Families:
The Steel Valley School District would like to extend its sincere gratitude to the Munhall Police Department for its prompt and thorough response to the threat the district received on Monday, February 3, 2025. Their quick work, combined with the efforts of staff members and the district security team under Chief Darrel Parker, ensured that we were able to safely proceed with the school day following the two-hour delay.
The district will continue to work with Munhall Police as it completes its investigation. We will pursue any and all appropriate disciplinary measures with the individual or individuals involved, including pressing charges if deemed appropriate. The safety and security of our students and staff will always remain the top priority of our district.
The quick response Monday was made possible in part due to the use of the Safe2Say Something anonymous reporting system. This service is invaluable to school districts, as it allows students, families, and staff to report concerning behavior or possible threats to school officials while remaining anonymous and without fear of retaliation. Information about Safe2Say Something is available on the district website.
Thank you for helping to keep our students and staff safe.
Sincerely,
Bryan M. Macuga
Superintendent
