Steel Valley students explore college, career opportunities at multi-district fair

Students at the college fair

A group of Steel Valley High School students visited Woodland Hills High School this morning for a college and career fair that featured almost 50 universities, trade schools, armed services, and employers.

The event was made possible thanks in part to DoD STEM, which offers the SMART Scholarship-for-Service Program. The program offers full tuition scholarships and a monthly stipend to students pursuing eligible STEM degrees at accredited universities. Upon graduation, they are guaranteed employment with the Department of Defense as a civilian employee for four years after graduation.

Steel Valley students met with a representative from the SMART Scholarship-for-Service Program to learn more about the requirements as well as the various career paths that are part of the initiative.

The students then explored the rest of the college and career fair, meeting with admissions representatives from universities, trade schools, and employers located throughout the country.
