Senior A.J. Karstetter to play collegiate soccer at Pitt-Greensburg

Congratulations to senior A.J. Karstetter, who will continue his academic and athletic career at the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg. A.J. made it official on Tuesday morning during a signing ceremony in the high school auditorium with his family, friends, and teammates in attendance.

A.J. is a multi-sport athlete at Steel Valley, including serving as the placekicker for the football team the last few years, but will focus on soccer at Pitt-Greensburg. He has been a starter for the Ironmen soccer team all four years and served as captain for two of those years. During his senior year, A.J. led the Ironmen with seven goals and six assists.

"His leadership and commitment to the team has been unmatched and has helped the team grown and build towards success," coach Connor Szczepankowski said. "While his skills on the field will be missed, his leadership and ability to make others around him better will be missed the most. The coaches and team want to wish A.J .the best as he continues his soccer career at UPG, we will be cheering for you!"

Club soccer coach Matt Fry added, "When it comes to the qualities that are required for the highest levels of success in athletics or in life, A.J. Karstetter has them in droves. I hold A.J. in the highest regards, and wish him all the best at the University of Pitt Greensburg.  They are lucky to have him."
