Stand Together club raises mental health awareness with lunch campaign

Students in the Middle School Stand Together Club

Students in the Middle School Stand Together club “Have a Dream”. They want to create a positive school environment, work with other organizations to provide interventions for students, provide resources for mental health support to students and staff, adopt a schoolwide approach to mental health awareness, help students to express themselves, develop strategies to help support others and educate students about mental health issues and the stigma around them.

This year, they are taking active steps to accomplish their dreams starting with a project on Thursday, January 12 that they did during all of the lunches. They even got to sport their new club t-shirts that read “HUMAN. KIND. Be Both" and “You are Enough."

The team had a list of questions and students spun the prize wheel to answer the questions and/or played PLINKO answering questions. If they got the question correct, they got a bracelet saying “You Are Enough”. Then, our team visited the lunch tables where they asked additional questions to 1 in 4 students. This symbolized the amount of youth impacted by a mental health condition. There was also a photobooth set up and the students had the opportunity to add a post-it to the back drop that allowed students to add their dreams or wishes to it!

It was a great success and wonderful day at SVMS!
