Stand Together, Steel Valley Wellness launch Circle Talks in Middle School

Students sit in a circle as part of a mental health workshop

Tuesday, January 10 was the first of a three-part series of Circle Talks co-hosted by the Steel Valley Middle School Stand Together team and the co-owner of Steel Valley Wellness and licensed professional counselor, Katie Whitney.

Circle Talks evolved as collaborative effort to introduce students to the basics of mental health and coping mechanisms.

During the first session, students had the opportunity to share, learn and relax amongst their peers in a safe environment. Many are looking forward to the next session and are looking forward to bringing a friend. All of the students left with a breathing technique for calming and a self affirmation.

Any Steel Valley student in grades 5-8 is welcome to join for the next session. Congratulations to De’Shawn Monroe who was our lucky gift card winner today! We hope to see you all back times two on February 7th!
