MUNHALL – February 25, 2022 – The Steel Valley School District Board of Directors has appointed JaQuay Carter to fill the vacancy on the board created by the resignation of Meghan B. Fitzgerald. The board approved the appointment by a unanimous vote during the Thursday, February 24 legislative meeting.
Mr. Carter is a 2001 Steel Valley graduate who currently lives in Munhall. He is the founder and president of the Greater Hazelwood Historical Society of Pittsburgh and works as a historian with the Rivers of Steel. He was sworn in by Magisterial District Judge Patrick Campbell during the board meeting and will begin his duties immediately. The vacancy was an at-large position and the terms runs until the 2023 election.
Mr. Carter joins a board that includes board president James E. Bulger, vice president Daniel M. Rojtas, and board directors Maya L. Adams, David J. Colasante, Robyn Guy, Cara L. Karstetter, William R. McLaughlin and Mary Yuhas.
The next board meeting is a workshop meeting on March 21, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school library. The next legislative meeting is March 24, 2022 at 7 p.m. in the library.
