William V. Campbell Athletic Complex Update

If you haven’t been by Campbell Field lately, you’re in for a surprise when you stop by!

Last spring the Campbell Education and Community Foundation provided $500,000 to replace the field surface and walking track at the William V. Campbell Complex, and it looks beautiful. This is where the District's football and soccer teams play.

After the Campbell Foundation conducted a very thorough and extensive study of the lighting at the field this past summer, groundwork was laid for new field lighting at the Complex during a major renovation this coming winter.

“The new lighting is considered to be the gold standard for high school athletics, and it will be designed to minimize the light that goes onto our neighbors’ property,” said District Superintendent Edward Wehrer.

The estimated cost of the project, which will be borne solely by the Campbell Foundation, is $1.6 million.

“Once again, our students and taxpayers are the primary beneficiaries of the continued generosity of the Campbell Foundation and Joe Ducar,” said Wehrer.

Please note that beginning Nov. 10, the field and walking track will not be available for use. Residents who use the walking track at Campbell Field may want to use the track around Griffin Field, next to the High School, or the walking lanes around West Field, behind the Munhall Borough Building, during the lighting renovation.
