Cruce Brookins, Greg Smith sign National Letters of Intent

Congratulations to Cruce Brookins and Greg Smith for signing their National Letters of Intent today to play Division I college football!

Greg is headed to Miami (Ohio) University, where he will be an offensive lineman. He has been a standout player on both sides of the ball for the Ironmen, earning all-conference recognition. On defense this year, he had 65 tackles and three sacks.

Cruce is staying close by at the University of Pittsburgh, where he will be a defensive back. Cruce earned multiple accolades this season for his play at quarterback and in the secondary, including all-conference recognition, conference MVP, and selection to the Post-Gazette Fab 22. He ran for 1,663 yards, threw for 785 yards, intercepted 7 passes, and accounted for 35 total touchdowns.

Together, Greg and Cruce helped the Ironmen go 32-12 in their four years in high school. The last two years, Steel Valley has posted a 23-2 record, won back-to-back conference championships, and this year won the WPIAL Class 2A championship - the sixth in school history.

Congratulations to Greg Smith and Cruce Brookins! We can't wait to see what you do at the next level!
